The top five companies accounted for 4% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Nestle filed the most health & wellness patents within the consumer industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 46 health & wellness-related patents in the quarter, compared with 79 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Kangnam University with 44 health & wellness patent filings, Kotobuki Realty (25 filings), and Kyungpook National University (23 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 48% share of total patent filings
The largest share of health & wellness related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q2 2024 was in China with 48%, followed by the US (7%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by China was 4% higher than the 44% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
